You better find IT. You better adapt IT to your business. You better do IT. Or, your business likely won’t be here long.

So what is IT?  IT is the “Internet Community”.

If you want to get your products and services in front of your consumers, you need to go to where they are. They are headed to the internet in masses…to the social networks, email, company websites and search engines through PCs, laptops, notebooks, phones and PDA devices. The internet is the not so silent salesperson working 24/7 with NO overtime…it talks to you, shows video, sings to you and of course has written copy. It also tracks everything you do, how long you stay and everywhere you go…amazing! People love to educate themselves, do their own thing at their own pace, and many times, with a good website, they will close themselves too! How great is that?

The beauty of the internet is the broad reach out to millions of potential customers for a very low cost of lead acquisition. Over 50% of people have traded in their old yellow pages and solely search on line. How do you market your business today?? In the newspaper which has declining readership, or direct mail and flyers where the postage and printing gets more expensive with each order? Perhaps you can afford radio and TV, where XM and TIVO allow people to skip the commercials.

Look at your traditional monthly marketing budget and calculate the cost per lead….very high right? And you probably don’t even know how many leads it generated. In most cases, you could save money on your traditional advertising and increase your impressions 10 fold on the internet. I know it can be scary to change what you have always done, but at least spend some time educating yourself on all the benefits of internet marketing and try a few things. The online social networks are free to join! Facebook is like going to a cocktail party every night, only you don’t have to leave the comfort of your own home.

Now a quote from Faith Popcorn’s book, Clicking. “One thing for sure, the F-U-T-U-R-E doesn’t hold itself back and wait patiently for us to wake up and act. Clicking into the Trends can save precious time by directing us away from something that’s nothing and toward something that’s really something. We firmly believe that the best measurement for a sound idea is not Good vs. Bad, not New vs. Old, but On-Trend vs. soon-to-be Obsolete.”

Did you get IT?  Join the “internet community” and be On-Trend!
