One of the best- selling books in the United States is "The Secret," edited by Rhonda Byrne. The book's "secret" is actually an age-old theory about positive thinking.

Here are 5 Cool Ideas on the law of attraction. By Michael Angelo-Caruso

  1. 1. What you think about becomes important.

The premise of the secret is that like attracts like. In other words, what you think about gets bigger. If you think you're having a bad day, then you're having a bad day and vice versa. Conversely, if you think you're having a good day, then . . .

  1. 2. Are you catching a cold or getting over one?

There are health and wealth applications to the law of attraction. If you sneeze, you might say, "I'm catching cold," yet the sneeze indicates the cold is already leaving your body. Try saying, "I'm getting over a cold" when you have symptoms. It's true.

  1. 3. Are you lacking or do you have enough?

People who practice scarcity thinking never have enough of anything. People with an abundance mentality always have enough. One can say,

"I don't have the money" or "I choose to spend my funds on other things."

  1. 4. But the law of attraction falls short.

The law says if you want to be happy, think happy thoughts. But, what if one has never known happiness?

5.  The key is my law of distraction.

The law of distraction states that you get what you want to the extent you are not distracted by artificial satisfaction. Instant gratification, for example, almost never works, so be patient. Now you know the secret.
